Jerry Callahan, PhD, MBA Jerry Callahan, PhD, MBA is the Chief Operating Officer of Hopen Life Sciences. As Hopens operational leader, Dr. Callahan is responsible for human resources, business development, finance and organizational development. He has more than 15 years of operational leadership experience, most recently serving as Chief Information Officer and Vice President of Supply Chain at Twinlab/Metabolife. He played a key role in the companys growth through acquisitions and new product launches. Dr. Callahan serves on the boards of several private equity and venture capital organizations focused on the life sciences.
Jerry Colca, PhD Jerry Colca, PhD is President and Chief Scientific Officer, and a co-founder of MSDC.
Michael Jandernoa Mike Jandernoa is the former Chairman of the Board and CEO of Perrigo Company, the nations largest manufacturer and marketer of store brand over-the-counter drug and nutritional products. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan and was a CPA, having worked at BDO Seidman for seven years prior to joining Perrigo in 1979. Hired by Perrigo as CFO, Mr. Jandernoa was promoted to EVP of Sales and Finance in 1981, appointed President in January 1983, and became CEO in 1986. He was promoted to Chairman of the Board and CEO in November 1991, a position he held until May of 2000. During his career at Perrigo, Mr. Jandernoa helped lead two LBOs in 1981 and 1988 and the companys IPO in 1991. In addition to his service on Perrigos Board of Directors, he also serves on the Board of Directors of the Van Andel Institute, Business Leaders for Michigan, the University of Michigan Business School Visiting Committee, Grand Valley University Foundation, and previously the Strategic Economic and Commercialization Board (formerly Michigan Life Sciences Corridor). He also serves/chairs on numerous community boards and committees as well. Mr. Jandernoa is a co-founder and board member of Bridge Street Capital and a co-founder and Board member of Grand Angels.
Rolf Kletzien, PhD Rolf Kletzien, PhD is Senior Vice President of Research, and a co-founder of MSDC.
John Landis, PhD John Landis, PhD retired from his position as Senior Vice President, Pharmaceutical Sciences of Schering-Plough in October 2008 and is currently an Adjunct Professor at Purdue Universitys Department of Chemistry. Prior to joining Schering-Plough in 2003, Dr. Landis served in various management positions with Pharmacia Corporation and The Upjohn Company, including Director of Quality Control, Executive Director of Quality Control, Vice President of Quality Control, Vice President of Analytical Research, Vice President of CNS Psychiatry, and Senior Vice President of Preclinical Development.
Mark Olesnavage, Board Chair Mark Olesnavage is Managing Director of Hopen Life Sciences. He sets Hopens strategic direction and leads the companys business activities. A veteran of the pharmaceutical and nutraceutical industries, he has led business divisions in the United States, Europe, and the Pacific Rim. Mr. Olesnavage spent 24 years with Perrigo Company where he held various senior management positions, including Executive Vice President and General Manager. During his tenure, he oversaw several key acquisitions and saw the companys sales grow from $70 million to $1.3 billion (in 2005). Mr. Olesnavage also was a leader in the development of numerous product and technology partnerships. He was previously a longtime member of the Generic Pharmaceutical Association and the Consumer Healthcare Products Association, and he has served on the executive committees of both groups. Mr. Olesnavage has an MBA from Grand Valley State University and a B.S. degree in Business and Economics. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Tolera Therapeutics and Intervention Insights.
William Parfet William U. Parfet has served since May 1999 as Chairman and CEO of MPI Research, Inc., a pre-clinical toxicology research laboratory. He joined MPI in November 1995 as Co-chairman. Mr. Parfet was formerly employed with Richard-Allan Medical, a worldwide manufacturer of surgical products where he served as President and Chief Executive Officer from October 1993 to January 1996. Prior to that, he served as Vice Chairman of the Board of The Upjohn Company and was President (1991-1993) and Executive Vice President (1989-1991). Mr. Parfet joined The Upjohn Company (now Pfizer) in March 1973 and was a member of the Board of Directors (1985-2003).
Mr. Parfet serves on various other boards including Monsanto Company, Stryker Corporation, Taubman Centers, Inc., A. Alfred Taubman Medical Research Advisory Board and Scientific Advisory Board, Lake Forest College, Greenleaf Trust, College for Creative Studies, Business Leaders for Michigan, and MPI Research.
Mr. Parfet received his BA degree (with honors) in 1970 from Lake Forest College with a major in Economics and his MBA from the University of Michigan in 1972 in International Finance. |
